James Parrot - Drone 69
Mr. Parrot is at IT again with Drone 69, released just 3 days ago. If you don´t know who James Parrot is (or read my former review), I can reveal to you that he is a godsend for pure drone-junkies. Because that is what he does, drone-based ambient music... and that is what you get will ALL of his releases, simple and beautiful drone-based ambient music with no side-effects or subliminal messages. Purely based on levitating the listener into various states of mind through sound.
All the tracks are simply been called I, II, III etc but all have been mixed beautifully together. We are not dealing with actual sound recordings, but we are dealing with ...(I think)... multilayered string-like and stretched angelic synths on loop and reverbed effects with gentle distortions. It literally sounds just like one of those good dreams you wake up from, and you feel absolutely wonderful. That floating-over-everything sensation being a strong ingredient with Drone 69, and I am not talking about that sexual position... If you do take a look at the cover art for one second while listening to the recorded material, it does actually makes sense.
In the springtime in Denmark, several farmers grow Raps (Brassica Napus) when the flower of the plant has bloomed the whole field is a sensorial explosion. The huge field being EXTREMELY yellow, and the smell can almost be described as a HUGE honey wave fragrance just engulfing you. And with the wind machines in the background of the actual cover-art, it could actually be in Denmark. So yes, a spring-time sensual drone experience?... I wanna have this waking me up in the morning, just slowly.
Need to stress out (or wake up slowly in the morning)? Or just missing that spring-time sensation of bloom and gently warmth, you can find it all here! (see Bandcamp link below)
